The AWANA Club at Calvary Baptist Church meets each Wednesday night from 6:30-8:10 p.m. during the school year.   All children age 3 (by Sept. 1 of the current school year) through sixth grade are welcome to attend.  For more information, please contact the church office (605-665-5594) or Michelle Tieszen (605-665-2980).

The goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him.  AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (found in II Timothy 2:15). AWANA is a Bible-based club for children to learn God's Word in a fun and safe environment regardless of denomination. Each evening consists of active Bible learning (Council Time), fun social interaction (Game Time), and memorizing God’s Word (Handbook Time).

  • Handbook Time:  This is the time when clubbers can say verses they have learned during the week.  They will earn awards for passing sections in the Handbook.

  • Council Time:  Through Bible stories, object lessons, and active learning, clubbers will be learning more about God’s Word and how to apply it to their lives.

  • Games:  A fun time of friendly competition, uniquely created around the AWANA circle.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.    2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
